Great venue, we had an awesome view. We went as a family with friends, and there were 8 of us in total. It's also pet friendly, so we were also able to take our furbabys with, who loved the space. The kids loved the indoor heated pool and games room. The hot tub and sauna were an added bonus. The cottages were simple, clean but very nice. The kitchens had everything we needed, and we cooked our Christmas Dinner without any issue. A couple of miles from a store so easy to get anything you need, and the local villages a very pretty. We loved our time there and will certainly look to go back maybe in summer, maybe? LOVED IT!!!

I spent a week atSmythen Farm Cottages as part of a detox retreat. While the retreat was very well run, the quality of the venue itself was a real shame - dirty, smelly and really run down. Smythen Farm Cottages are set on a hill overlooking the sea, beautiful views and it's lovely and peaceful but the cottages and communal spaces really needsome attention. I didn't see or meet the owners while I was there and some may ask why I didn't seek them out to raise these issues - but when you see the photos you'll understand that the items were not quick fixes and wouldn't have been able to have been addressed during my stay. There's no way the owners could not be awareof the state of their properties unless they never actually go into them which is neglectin itself. Not to forget that when I arrived the bed was covered in dog hair and one of the people running the retreat, not the owners running the cottages, brought me clean sheets and helped me change them. It could be such a lovely place to stay if the owners would be willing to invest in and upgrade the property as a whole.
