Have a play on the beach before you head off to the fort. It's only just over a mile walk to the Fort from the car park, but it feels like 5 miles if you use the steps and walk across the top. But it is so worth it. There is a longer, more gentle path around the outside. Most people seem to take that way back. Take a camera. Take food and water. Use the toilet near the National Trust cafe before you go. If you feel especially adventurous, climb down the rocks to the left of the Fort down to a pebble beach. There's a little cave you can explore.

Vigorous walk from carpark to the fort and back. Weather windy but dry. There seemed to be as many dogs as people on the beach. Cafs and restrooms are very busy, so queues long. Carparks are very full.

Beautiful 5km circular walk to the fort at the end of Brean Down and back. Amazing 360 degree views to Wales, the Mendips and along the coast to Exmoor
