Went to discuss puppy class with our 13 week old very confident puppy. There were 15 dogs in the group, ranging from 13 weeks to 6 months: a far larger group than I had been advised it would be. Our usually confident and well socialised puppy was completely intimidated by some boisterous older puppies (and we have another dog at home who our puppy plays with, and he is used to playing with other dogs). I felt the group should have been split into 2, younger and older puppies- this would have given the group size of about 8 that I had been led to believe it would be. I recognised that my puppy was quite overwhelmed and anxious, so was giving him more rewards than I usually would- only to be told by the trainer not to reward him so much! And that I would have an obese dog- which is something I have never had! The second trainer present was lovely, but the lead trainer spoke to owners as if they were idiots. We only paid for the session attended and found another local dog training school with maximum class size of 6, at the same price.
