Giving 2 stars for the beautiful surrounds and how immaculate the cottage itself was. However our experience was awful! Back in May when I have booked my holiday with them through Hoseasons booking site, it took me a while to choose where to stay. Pictures online were lovely ( but here deceiving ), we needed a family friendly quiet place we could stay with a young toddler and a dog - this was essential. And Freshwater Barn seemed like an ideal place for us. But, things have changed within the first ten minutes of our arrival., we were told to keep our puppy indoors or tied to a patio table leg! So dog was not allowed to roam around. There was no privacy provided, all surrounding grassed area was used by owners, and our kids were not welcomed to play and run around. Plus their chickens were freely roaming around ( chicken poop everywhere), so my 2 year old was more of a nuisance when she tried chasing chicken on the first evening of our arrival. I could see owners/hosts were not impressed., but there was not much I could do about it. Only apologetically asked if chickens can stay in their hut, on which I had NO as an answer. So we had no choice but stay indoors., as I can not physically restrain my 2 yo from running around when outside. On our first day of arrival I have asked owners if I could put a small paddling pool for our toddler to play in. Again owner was not impressed and had a look on her face that again we are being a stupid nuisance - paddling pool?! In the end lady said yes, but only on a patio area meaning concrete floor outside our cottage! Again we were not welcomed to use grassed area around the cottage. I was so upset so we had no choice Butts to pack our bags and go home after spending there less that 24 hours! Our experience is a very sad one., as cottage is being advertised as a pet friendly and family/kids friendly place to stay and in reality it is absolutely not! Hosts have had a very strange attitude - instead of yes, sure, of course you can (within a reason), all I have heard was but, but no, but if, but how... I wouldnt recommend this place for a families with young children or pets.
