Came here on a coach trip to see the Christmas Light Trail. It was a magical experience from start to finish! There were helpful NT volunteers at the car park to direct us to the entrance. The cobbled courtyard had fairground rides and festive food stalls, and there was a large caf with toilets (more toilets at the start of the trail) and a friendly gift shop. The trail is about a mile long and it took us about an hour and a half, walking at a very leisurely pace along easy, level and well signposted gravel paths through an enchanting wonderland of dramatic light installations, floodlit trees and beautiful seasonal music. Loved the changing colours of the "rose garden", the flickering torches in the fire garden and the origami boats on the pond. The paths were well lit but muddy in places so sturdy shoes are essential. There were marshalls along the route to keep us going in the right direction and a couple of stalls selling toasted marshmallows and seasonal drinks. The sound and light show at the house was a wonderful finale. Not cheap at 20 per adult (14 for a child, under 2's go free) but for me it was an experience not to be missed!

Beautiful area with great walks, beautiful gardens all maintained by volunteers, we are very lucky to live so close to an area of outstanding natural beauty.
