very very nice place, i had a cheese panini. it was very tasty but i would recommend having crisps with it. lovely environment, especially for the elderly. i also had a cheese scone, it was very nice - one of the best ive ever had and ive had a ton! free wifi which is great, not a lot of choice for cold drinks. the toilets were a bit far away and extremely small but did the job. would definitely come here again!

What a wonderful antique centre staffed by charming and knowledgeable people. The place is full, not of stuffy overpriced furniture but a fascinating collection of old collectables. Well worth more than one visit

The tea room looked nice from the outside so we tried it out. I decided to have the soup of the day. Unfortunately that day the soup was a jar of Morrison's cheapest pasta sauce in a bowl- I challenge anyone to eat an entire jar of value pasta sauce, absolutely vile and insulting to think I would think i wouldn't notice. My companion's food was no better. Cheapest ingredients, no effort applied whatsoever. Avoid disappointment by avoiding this place completely.

My eldest Grandson Reece and I had a Traditional Afternoon Tea at the Gatehouse yesterday, and it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. When I rang to book a table I explained that Reece was taking Catering as one of his levels and his first practical exam was an Afternoon Tea, and although he had been practising his cooking he had never seen one set up and I thought it would be a good exercise for him to actually have tea. The staff were brilliant, on our arrival he was invited into the kitchen to see how the sandwiches, scones and cakes were assembled on the stand and given lots of useful advice and offers if needed of the loan of dishes etc. We are both most grateful for your warmth and interest in his project and he went home with lots of ideas, needless to say he thought the food, of which he ate the most, delicious, we couldn't manage the cakes so they were packed up for us to take home. I would recommend anyone to visit the Gatehouse, everything about the establishment is superb. Joy Brown.
