Dined for Sunday lunch on 23/4/23 and was served and looked after so well by a lovely lady called Jayne. Food, drinks and service exceptional. Will always come back time and time again because it's always a positive and enjoyable experience.

We chose to visit as the menu looked good, it was a convenient location and easy to find, and the car parking was plentiful. I have to say that our waitress, Jayne, was brilliant with us, and she made the whole evening a lovely experience. Overall, the food was great, and there was a wide range of menu options, although not cheap. The evening started well with a good range of drinks on offer. Unfortunately, there was an issue with my scallop starter. One of the three scallops was overdone and chewy and another one was underdone. I wouldnt have minded this, and Im not one to usually complain, but sadly, the scallops came with risotto rice which was undercooked. It was too al dente to be enjoyable, and so I didnt finish it. Jayne dealt with this very professionally, she apologised and spoke to the chef and the manager, and she removed it from the bill for us, for which I was grateful. It was a shame, as the sauce was lovely and the tiny red tomatoes (if thats what they were?) were absolutely lovely little bursts of sweetness. Had the execution been improved, it would have been a wonderful dish. The other starter, the beef dumpling, was delicious, as were the main courses- both the prawn tagliatelle with sweet crabmeat and the pork belly were beautifully flavoursome, good texture, well seasoned and well presented. The prawns were a good size and well cooked, and the scallops with the pork belly were done perfectly this time. The desserts were lovely too- we had the biscoff bomb with hot toffee sauce and the brownie with ice cream, which were good sizes and nicely indulgent. Jayne was attentive, helpful and friendly throughout our evening and she was a pleasure to have a brief chat with at the end of our meal. The restaurant was quiet for a Friday night, but there was an engagement party in the function room, which was in full swing as we were leaving around 10pm. People were dressed up and enjoying themselves, which was lovely to see, and it gave a nice, celebration energy to the place as we left. Admittedly, the food was more expensive than expected but the range and quality was good. There were some cheaper options (my prawn main course was 16, but other dishes were 23, which, for what is essentially an M&B pub, does feel expensive). The decor could do with a refresh and a lick of paint, especially the toilets, although the Scottish Soap Company hand wash and hand lotion was a lovely touch, and the fragrance from the lotion smelled beautiful on my skin for a good while afterwards. The highlight of the evening for me was the service, as Jayne was excellent, and so I would definitely return. I also noticed another table having cocktails with their meal, which looked lovely, so Id like to return, when Im not driving, to try one or two of those! Parking: Plenty of spaces for easy parking next to the entrance
