I just wouldn't buy a car from these guys. They are either dishonest or don't really know what they're doing. I went to look at a BMW estate and was told it was the Luxury Trim, it wasn't, and I know it wasn't because I've owned a similar BMW with the luxury trim package before. The guy explained this away by pointing out the optional upgrades that were on the car. Fair enough there were some good upgrades like the upgraded stereo and sunroof etc. but it wasn't the Luxury trim. Either he was just misinformed (not a good sign) or he was lying (a really bad sign). Looking round the car it had clearly not been cleaned properly (leaves and grime under the bonnet, water marks etc.) but worse it was absolutely covered in small dents and scratches. I don't think there was a panel on it that didn't have at least a bad scratch. The interior was also in very poor condition, weirdly sticky, and just not clean despite the blokes claim that it had been valeted, it clearly hadn't been. The door grab handle was black with dirt. I was told this was "normal for a ten year old car" and that "some people just don't look after cars very well." Okay firstly, my current car is 11 years old and is in far better condition, and secondly you could have at least made an effort to tidy it up a bit. It seemed as if they just didn't care to make the car presentable for sale which is always a massive red flag. I was also told they could sort out all the damage on the car after I buy it... as someone who's quite well versed in the car trade let me give you a free lesson: if you want to charge a high price for a second hand car, you make sure those repairs are done before you let someone view the car. Having a quick browse through the i-drive, I can see the MPG is bizarrely low for a diesel, someone has been thrashing this car... So anyway, onto the test drive. I start the car up and the battery alert comes on, having owned a similar BMW (in the Luxury trim I might add), I know this means it needs a new battery which I point out to the salesman, he tells me "Oh but BMWs charge the battery as they drive." Yes mate, all cars do, they're called alternators, that doesn't change the fact that this car needs a new battery. The tank was also basically empty, so we had to fill up during the test drive. Fine but that's pretty unprofessional, I had rung in the morning to arrange the viewing for mid afternoon, and they had all day to make sure the car at least had fuel in it. During the test drive the salesman's cousin who was accompanying me decided to play Kiss FM and look at his phone, only giving me directions when I prompted him. He seemed nice but come on mate... To top it off, the car was way overpriced and when I hinted that I wasn't impressed with the car or the price he didn't seem surprised at all, which pretty much says it all. On top of all of this, I checked the registration on the government website once I got home and the car wasn't taxed... they let me go on a test drive in an untaxed car. I've given an extra star because the two guys who served me were polite and didn't try to pressure me once I implied I wasn't going to buy the car and that it was overpriced due to it's condition. Other than that I was thoroughly unimpressed and I would recommend people to stay away from this garage.
