I had a wedding dress altered in June 2014. The main reason that this is a negative review was the customer service. The seamstress told me when I showed her the dress that she didn't want to do it. She then proceeded to be negative about it throughout the fitting. When I said I'd like it to have a smaller waist (it was a size too big) she said 'I suppose you want to look thin on your wedding day' as if having a beautifully fitting and flattering dress on the wedding day was a self-centred indulgence. It's true that this was a challenging dress to alter, but I'd rather have been told a flat no. The sewing to alter the top was good, although the shoulders are not only higher, but the angle of the straps is slightly different, meaning that it sits differently from before. The bottom of the dress, however, was just tacked up a little at the front, with none of the under layers tucked up and it is still too long. I will have to spend the week before my wedding doing the sewing myself. The worst thing was that she gave us no advanced warning when it would need to be collected. We got a sudden call out of the blue saying that it needed to be collected and paid for immediately, in cash, and that it would be 300, which is more than she had said to us in person. She said she needed the cash to pay some bills straight away. We explained that I was going on holiday for a week that day and couldn't collect it but she became irate and insisted that my mum picked it up, saying that she couldn't be responsible if somebody damaged it if not, because it was hanging up in the middle of her workshop. So mum had to pick it up and pay for it, in cash, without me having tried it on. And the invoice had no detail or breakdown - how many hours it took to do the alterations and what she charges per hour. I found this service unpleasant and unprofessional and I would not recommend them.
