    Very isolated section of Essex estuary to be found at the bottom of the steep hill where the coast road turns away from Thorpe-le-Soken, & towards Kirby-le-Soken. This extensive salt marsh area is the far western tip of Walton backwaters & inspired Arthur Ransome to write Secret Water. Although Beaumont Quay is visible from the hillside that overlooks it, the route into it is anything but clear & requires trekking through a farmyard stables. Certainly worth the adventure if you're a fan of almost deserted, isolated estuarine outbacks, aromatic with the scent of marshmud...
