I very much enjoyed the seminars with Alex. The on-line course detailing how Alex processes his files was excellent and easy to follow. We were given recordings of the class so we could go back and review all of the material. Alex showed the participants that photos could be processed using LR for the majority if not all of the work. He also explained why he uses certain tools and not others. Alex also was happy to answer any questions during the session or afterwards. One very useful technique was to give us photos to practice on and then show us how he would do the edits. Alex's photos are spectacular so he definitely knows what he is talking about. I hope to follow up with some additional sessions.

Having just finished my 3rd workshop with Alex I think I am able to give some useful feedback. I would consider myself as an highly motivated (generalist) amateur photographer with good technical skills but lacking a bit of practice when composing a shot in front of (epic) landscape sceneries. I love hiking and enjoy taking photos. The combination of these both things I personally find really exciting and motivating. This is where Alex workshops come into play. Id been with Alex in Iceland, in Scottland and lately on the Drakensberg. Ive enjoyed all three workshops, even though in Iceland and Scottland we struggled a bit with the weather conditions, with storms in Iceland being so severe that the national weather forecast warned: tents are likely to be destroyed. In Scotland we were ready to improve our winter mountain skills, but the winter did let us down with almost no snow and ice. Nevertheless, the day before we started our hike in Iceland Alex had to improvise and he came up with an alternative plan to hike in a completely different area and staying in a shelter on the two nights where the storm was supposed to be the worst. This plan B turned out to be brilliant and I was deeply impressed how Alex was able to cope with the difficult situation. In the end this was one of the best trips in my life at that time, only beaten by the Epic Drakensberg we just finished one week ago. Even in Scotland where we had no other choice than dealing with the too warm winter conditions, I really enjoyed the week and wed spent a lot of time on the mountains and got a lot of valuable tuition during the days and evenings when we were back in our place. Finally, the Drakensberg. The landscape was simply overwhelming and a few times I struggled when facing 180 degrees of epic landscape panoramas with constantly changing conditions. Alex was always at hand with clear hints and guidelines when required, so I can say Ive got away with a bunch of photos I could not be happier with. In this beautiful landscape I constantly felt previleged when being there all alone with even no aircraft in the sky. With stars shining so bright, as it is hard to believe. The company of other photographers and in particular of Alex and Zee, our Zulu mountain guide, I truly enjoyed. The porters were very supportive and helped us to make this joyful hike even more enjoyable, when offloading a bit our backpacks allowing me to bring not only dehydrated food, for instance. To make a long story short: I would join Alex again on any trip - immediately.

I have been on 2 trips with Alex and both have greatly exceeded my expectations. Alexs passion for photography, mountains and the areas he focuses on comes across so strongly and is hugely infectious. I felt the whole time i learnt so much by osmosis, listening to him and watching him. He is very open describing his thought process and how he looks to develop and build his shots. He is there as much or as little for you as a photographer as you which I found really engaging. Having come away from a week with Alex in Fisherfields I feel I am a better photographer than I was at the beginning, as well as having the opportunities to take photographs. As a guide and a mountain leader I felt really safe with Alex, the trips both had to be altered due to high winds and not being able to summit camp. Alex was open and transparent with his thought process and at no point did the changes detract from the experience both as an adventure and for photographic purposes. I took the first trip to try out mountain/wild camping and have found it an absolute addiction. Alexs guidance gave me the confidence to go out on my own, however I have enjoyed Alexs trips so much I will be returning soon.

I have been fortunate enough to have the benefit of Alexs mountain and photography skills and experience on a couple of occasions. The first was a trip to the Assynt area of Northwest Scotland to catch the autumn colours in late October 2021. The weather was typically Scottish, which was frequently wet and windy and left to my own devices this would have meant staying indoors. However, Alex led us to some great locations, and I achieved some pleasing pictures from the trip. Ive also participated in one of Alexs online courses dealing with processing images in Lightroom and Photoshop and this too proved to be time well spent as I now feel that I have a firm understanding of the basic principles of image processing that will improve the quality of the final result.
