I was so excited to visit this pub and was suitably impressed by the building aesthetics. However the bar person didnt break from conversation with her friend my side of the bar whilst serving and didnt acknowledge us throughout. I used the bathroom in the ladies and the cold taps arent plumbed in, the hot taps run scalding hot. Id love to come here again but know I wont.

Had been looking forward to trying out this pub/restaurant since it featured in The Times. Overall we were disappointed in the food on offer. It seemed to fall mid way between standard pub grub and good restaurant standard. The 'single' scallop was seriously over cooked, with an overpowering vinegar based sauce, as was the skate wing and accompanying leeks. The other vegetables were just steamed and the chips appeared to be bought in oven chips. When it featured as a new opening owned by a chef from London I imagined it would be a great foody place to add to those in Bruton. But it just doesn't make it to the table.

The perfect country pub, good beer and cider, delicious food and quality local ingredients, true community vibe but still welcoming for tourists. Beautiful garden, even better location and three fires lit in the winter. Open Mic was always the best Thursday night out in Somerset although I don't know if its currently on.
