Just back from a 2 night stay in our camper. Herdwick Croft is a lovely site. It is mostly statics/lodges so it feels more settled than some simply touring sites. It is well maintained and the staff are great The on-site bistro is nice. Good value and a reasonable choice of food and drinks. As it is mostly statics it isnt massively geared up for tourers so there is no shop selling milk etc. and there is no shop nearby. Go prepared. Also, there is only one wash up spot. BUT I never had to queue or wait. The showers are spotless and lots of hot water. There arent hairdryers so take your own as there are loads of sockets in the bathroom area. Also the grass pitch area has some pitches on slopes so take levellers. Our pitch had water and EHU and was in a great location. The area around Herdwick is beautiful. Lots of great walks. And the distillery is round the corner. Will I go back? Definitely- might even treat myself and DH to a night in the retreat or a hot tub lodge. Nearby activities: Five minute walk to the distillery. Also not too far from Bassenthwaite Lake station coffee shop. A must for Poirot fans. There is a nearby alpaca farm too. Alpacaly Ever After!

Were took our touring van. We were met by the freindly warden who took us to our pitch. Make sure you take some blocks to help level. Showers and toilets were spotlessly clean. We had a ciabattas in the bistro washed down by Moretti which was very tasty. Delicious homemade cakes too. The nice lady came over o check everything was ok which i thought was attentive. Im local to the area but will definitely return for a nice couple of days break especially with the MTBs
