Short version: I would highly recommend Matt for anyone, novice to seasoned trainer. Long version: I have been training with Matt for nearly a year now so thought it about time to leave a review! Before starting with Matt I had not done much exercise in 20 years and had quit smoking about a year earlier. Therefore my reason for going was to improve my health (mental as well as physical). It was daunting to take that first step as I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I'm glad I did. I initially met with Matt to talk about what I wanted to get from the training and to take some vital stats. Matt was very easy to talk to and I had a feeling straight away this would work for me. What I didn't want was a drill sergeant as I probably wouldn't last 10 mins in that situation! Even though Matt has never shown it I'm sure he must have been frustrated with me and my progress (or lack of at times). But I was/am doing this for me and nobody else and it had to be at my pace or I think I wouldn't have come this far. As I said, this is for my mental health as much as physical and even during the days and weeks where I wasn't making as much progress as I (or probably Matt) would have liked I just kept telling myself that no matter how slow, I am making progress because it's a 50 minute round walk to Matt's and an hour workout - 2 hours which otherwise would be spent on the couch watching tv! With perseverance though I feel like I am finally making some real progress. I feel fitter physically and mentally and this has given me the confidence to do other things. I now also do pilates, go swimming and running, I am training for a half marathon and for a trip to Everest Base Camp. As I said sometimes (or many times ) it may not have been high energy from me but I have put in work and now feel like I am coming on a lot and this in turn allows me to work even harder. I wouldn't have done it without Matt though. He does push me but not to the point where I would want to quit! Without encouragement from Matt I may very well have been back on the couch putting on weight with my mental and physical health deteriorating further. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone. I referred a friend and he is younger, fitter and more stubborn than me and so has come on much quicker than me and does boot camp as well as his PT. I'm sure Matt works him harder as he can handle it so all fitness levels are catered for. If like I was though, you're a beginner or haven't done anything in a long time and maybe a bit afraid to get going, don't be. It won't be easy, you will ache all over at times and want to cry or quit at times but pick up the phone and get over that initial fear...you really won't regret it. You will feel a whole lot better for it and even if it's slow remember you will be making more progress than if you were on the couch!

I have attended Matt's Boot Camp and it is a great experience. It is challenging, fun, good workout and addresses different muscle groups. I am doing a lot of fitness activities (at least 4 times a week) and Matt didn't fail to get me sweatty every Thursday. The only downfall is that there wasn't a second day bootcamp :D Thank you very much for a great time and workout!
