From the outset, my initial NHS consultation with Nish on 15th March was engaging, informative and friendly. I left that day with a full understanding of the state of the cataract problem and the potential for NHS treatment. Having discussed it later that day with my wife, I decided to explore the possibility of proceeding privately via the Candover Clinic, and I was impressed with the efficient way with which my initial enquiry was treated. From that point on the process was smooth, swift and supportive. I was offered a Biometry test within days, and a prospective surgery date of 16th April. On the day of the Biometry (Friday 19th March) test Nish asked if I was happy with the 16th April or would I like it sooner. I opted for as soon as possible, and Nish duly arranged for my right eye cataract operation to be undertaken the following Wednesday (24th March)! The operation on my right eye was a tricky op as the cataract was quite advanced and Nish explained fully what he proposed to do, and gave me a helpful commentary throughout the op to reassure and inform me as to progress. The op was a little longer than usual due to the density of the cataract but otherwise everything went according to plan and I was out of the theatre within 30 minutes, with a new eye which not only gave me much better clarity of vision but also much better colour definition. Due to the gradual onset of the cataract problem I hadnt realised how much I had lost, but afterwards - WOW - what a difference! Apart from some mild grittiness, my vision was immediately enhanced, and by midday the following day, even the grittiness had subsided. I subsequently asked for the cataract in my left eye to be operated on as soon as possible, and this was arranged for 16th April - the date originally allotted to me in the early stages of the process. The operation went faultlessly, and if anything, better than the right eye as the recovery time post-op was so short. By breakfast time the next day my left eye felt normal. And, of course, from this point onwards my vision has been brilliant, with no need for distance glasses, and only mild support for reading. An absolutely fabulous outcome which I have told many friends about since, but found hard to describe with mere words. I have tried to describe this life-changing improvement to Nish also, who, in typical Nish-fashion, is very modest about his involvement. But to use the words life-changing is no overstatement. Nishs skill, not only in theatre, but in diagnosis, communication, reassurance, and general friendliness cannot be overstated. He has developed an amazing skill set which, as a fellow health professional, I find awesome. I know he has spent a large slice of his life training to be where he is, and what a testament he is to that training process. A truly high skilled health professional able to change the lives of his patients. Now, of course, Nish would be the first to say that he is just part of a team, and from my experience that team is first class! From initial contact with Amy, his PA, through pre-op care with Christian to post-op care in the waiting room with Mona, the patient care experience from my perspective has been exemplary. I would have loved to shake the hand of every team member, but of course in these COVID times that is not possible, and simple words like Thank You seem inadequate for the gratitude I feel towards Nish and his team. My life has been enhanced inexplicably by this whole experience and I have told everyone I know just that. A first class outcome from a first class team of health professionals. A BIG THANK YOU

Nish made me feel very welcome and at ease. He seemed exceptionally competent in his manner and approach, and gave me all the reassurance about my prognosis that I could have hoped for.
