High turnover of students leaving, tactical techniques made up 'on the fly' right in front of you in training. No curriculum like IKMF or KMG. The list can go on..... Please do your research very carefully before committing to 1 or 3 years - your choice.

(8 weeks in and loving it) . Ive never been involved in anything like this before hence the expected and initial apprehension/nerves, however at 123 it was clear from the offset (before even meeting) that their professionalism was a major priority and this really (in my view) made the club stand out. When i did join i was extremely please to actually experience a genuine no-ego training zone, the instructors are extremely good (the best?) at what they do and everyone at the club makes you feel welcome and is always willing to guide and assist. In short, great club, amazing people, fantastic coaching and exactly what i was after!

Earlier this year I made the decision to restart practicing martial arts, having had a gap of several years since last performing any form of combat sport. My primary objective was effective self-defence, with secondary interests in general physical fitness as part of a broader training program in my (increasingly) middle age... :) From past experience, martial arts clubs come in many flavours. Organisations tend to range from the well known cookie-cutter McDojo type (keep paying fees to receive your next belt, questionable credibility over the quality of the skillset learned etc...), to "hard core", potentially high physical impact clubs, which tend to offer very intense training, provided the student is willing to endure the physical (& perhaps mental) costs of such an environment. Having been a student at 123 Krav Maga over the past months, I can confirm that the club offers an excellent environment in which to learn practical self defence. The classes are well planned and structured, with a progressive sequence of techniques taught generally culminating in a test of the techniques under stress conditions. Without entering the evergreen debate of the effectiveness of different martial arts systems, I would offer the view that Krav Maga is likely effective, offering a holistic mix of stand up, ground based, & weapons defence training. I would also comment that the club does an excellent job of making new starters feel welcome, introducing them in their first class, & being friendly / welcoming generally. This is a nice touch, & greatly appreciated when joining a new environment. In summary I would recommend 123 Krav Maga to anyone interested in taking up, or perhaps restarting, their martials arts journey. The club offers many positive attributes such as the aforementioned well structured training & effective subject matter. I look forward to continuing the practice, & discovering where the journey may lead...
