The carers themselves get 5 stars from me!!! The company gets minus 5! Why - awful management over the past 5 years. Being told we had 3 days to clear her room after she died, whilst in the contract, is still somewhat gut-wrenching although the local management did allow us a week. Having spent almost 5 years self funding and spending 244,000 they then send you a bill for 25 for chiropody that was unpaid at the time of her death...despite the fact that they had 50 cash in their safe that was hers and we still have not seen that returned as head office have to do that to her bank account, that was frozen a few days after she died! IF you place a relative here, get EVERY agreed/promised thing in writing from them of the head office will deny they promised it! The carers themselves are overworked and underpaid at under 11 per hour!! Sanctuary are a business and making money is their only objective!

If I could leave a review based on the majority of the care staff I would leave higher, but to reflect this company as a whole and the management system if I could leave less than 1 star I would. My nan self funded for 5 years amounting to a quarter of a million pounds. Money she had worked and earned over her lifetime. From small things like not being able to buy her favourite (cheap) granola and pizza to bigger safeguarding concerns this company did not provide her with a stay reflective of what she had to spend or reflective or what a care home should be.....caring. To be provided with the basic level of care. Not able to access the garden. Left in a chair in the communal area most days when her ability to move herself was gone. How is this caring, how is this providing an adequate quality of life. I'm sad that my nans last year's on this earth have been spent funding the CEOs and managers of a care company who don't care whilst paying the staff doing their best to manage minimum wage and expecting them to cope with inadequate staffing levels and incompetent agency staff. Multiple registered managers during the 5 years none of whom ran the home efficiently or could even tell me what medication my nan was on! This isn't just an issue that is limited to this one care home, I recognise nationally the care 'industry' is a shambles. I just hope that my loved ones or indeed myself never need to live in a care home. Thank you to those staff who did value her, did spend time getting to know her, did make her laugh and smile despite the indaquacies and difficult job they had to do dealing with a joke of a management set up. These are the people we as a family truly appreciate and who I know my nan would have too.

Basingfield Court is a caring environment with a real home from home feel. Staff are happy and engaging. It has wonderfully spacious rooms and a very large garden, I would recommend this care home. From the moment you walk through the door you feel welcome.
