A&E with 7 to 8 hours of waiting time. People/patients were lying indoors on the floor after the main entrance of the A&E. The place was too dirty, and the service was too slow without apparent reason.

I have been waiting in the A&E for someone to see my 18 months old baby for 2 hours and a half. We are still waiting while I write this review and its approaching 12 am. Imagine the stress your child is going though and the tension you experience as a parent

I usually don't do this here but I think I've had enough at this point. I personally don't think Basildon University Hospital have a functioning Quality department. I don't think Serious Incidents and Near Misses or even Never Events are properly reported on, escalated, investigated properly and lessons from RCAs embedded effectively. I have had too many terrible experiences that now make me question how these practices can continue to happen unchecked. I made a complaint about the poor and appaling experience I had during my child delivery in 2019 and to date I never received a response from anyone. In the same 2019, I was wrongly diagnosed of kidney injury and when I questioned the diagnosis and how they arrived at that, the nurse came back to my room almost 15 minutes later to apologise that the diagnosis was wrong and that the wrong blood was used. In the same year, just 2 weeks after I gave birth, I came down with pneumonia. I went into the A&E and a quick X- Ray showed that I had a massive shadow in my right lung. The shadow was suspected to be fluid. Basildon doctors didn't think it was necessary to drain the fluid in my lungs to at least test what it was or if it was infected. I struggled with breathing and was in severe pains for 2 whole weeks before a teaching hospital was able to diagnosis me with pneumonia. I struggled with Pleural Effusion and when I asked the doctor why they left fluid in my lungs for that long, she said she didn't know the answer. To date, I don't believe they carried out any investigations or learned any lessons from that incident. Fast forward to now, I had surgery in September at the same Basildon hospital and since September 2023 I have been complaining of severe pains around my navel area. The area had turned black and a weird smell has been noticed. It only took one ultrasound to find out that there's a fluid collection around the area and that collection has been infected. Despite going to my GP amd A&E on several occasions. I only got to do an ultrasound yesterday. The Radiologist who scanned me, specifically said I needed to be put on another course of antibiotics- This would be the 3rd course of Antibiotics and countless prescription of Codeine. My consultant has said I won't be seen until the 24th of June 2023 to discuss the outcome of the scan. So, Im likely going to continue living with this terrible pain for another 2- 3 or even 4 months pending when they feel like draining the fluid collection from my stomach. I'm very worried of getting sepsis and I constantly live with the fear of dying from this. Honestly, I don't think the doctors at that hospital care about their patients. I look at them and just feel like I'm dealing with robots. There's no empathy, no understanding, everything is all so animated there. It's horrible At this point, I'd have to go private because clearly the NHS is looking like a failed experiment. #Basildonuniversityhospital
