Emergency Dental Service Barnstaple

Similarly to other people's experiences, we had a very long wait to be put through to the team. However, what an amazingly friendly and helpful service. We were lucky to be able to get an emergency appt same day and, although we had a 50 mile round trip, the dentist was great - friendly and responsive to being a nervous patient. Absolutley shocking. Called up at 8am on the dot as they opened.Ended up waiting 3hours to be connected to someone when I finally was connected they told me all appointments had been booked and to try again tomorrow.I explained how I was in agony couldnt eat or sleep and was becoming ill because of this but the lady just recommended getting pain relief from a pharmacy even after I mentioned I had already done that. I was in constant pain from a tooth on a Saturday, and in desperation rang 111 and was offered an appointment early the following morning at this practice, with instructions as to how to gain entry etc. Duly turned up and was greeted by the Receptionist who took my details and ushered me into the surgery, where I was introduced to the dentist and his assistant, who made me feel at ease. - As much as possible being in pain !! He carefully inspected the offending tooth and, after due consideration offered me 3 potential options, of which I selected the 3rd, being removal as it had given me problems previously. The offending item was then removed, with little discomfort, and advice given as to how any discomfort, caused by its removal, could be lessened over the coming hours, and gauze pads provided for use, if required. All in all an excellent, professional service which I have no hesitation in recommending, as it seems to have removed, for me, the pain !! The only (minor) critism I could offer as they had no method of accepting credit or debit cards, and the costs are, at present, unknown, this was not advised prior to my arrival, and without knowing the treatment costs how could one know how much 'cash' would be required ?? All in all though - Excellent relieving treatment !!!

My daughter is in severe pain. Rang at 8 as instructed. My husband got through, but the call handler after taking some details cut us off and did not call us back. He attitude was rude and dismissive, the line was not great, but because of this woman deliberatly cutting us off I now have been on hold for an hour, and no doubt do not now have an appointment. If the call handler had not of cut us off I'm sure we would have an appointment at it was 10 past 8.

I can't thank this service enough! The dentist and the dental nurse put me at ease as I had a tooth extracted! I am very nervous when it comes to the dentist but the reassurance and care they took for an emergency service made me relax. I visited on the 20th March. Thank you for such amazing care and we are very lucky to have this service with such long waiting lists across the county.
