They confirmed an app to do an in person check of the aforementioned script for 5pm the following week verbally. I didnt get any text or email confirmation (despite needing to provide my phone number and them having my rewards scheme details up in-front of them).
I go along for 5 on the day and am told that on their system my appointment was for 4pm (one word against another on this, but highlights need to send a confirmation text).
The 2 assistants at the front desk concede to speaking to the (evidently free) eye doctor after I explained my appointment wasnt for a test, just script renewal. I showed the main assistant a copy on my phone of the signed script that I was instructed to bring. They then took my phone away from me - only when I seemed puzzled as to where my phone was going (and why I couldnt come with it) did they explain this was to check with the Dr at back.
Assistant returns a min later with phone and announces that without a recall date on the signed script, they wont renew my lens subscription. I asked if this needed to be a particular number of months since my last eye exam, but there didnt seem to be any indication of what they would or wouldnt except.
My issue: if this recall date is fundamentally required, why didnt they stipulate over the phone initially? Also, my script was dated 13 months ago. Surely its for Boots optician to use their discretion as to how long they deem a qualified eye test valid for - my other doctor could have 2 days or 2 years? Are Boots saying they will prescribe as long as a non-Boots optician likes? I doubt it and suspect its because theyd rather charge for 2 (vision and lens) tests themselves on top of a 75 per month lens subscription.
In conclusion for anyone reading this, Ill be swapping to Lens Direct as advised by all my contacts lens wearing friends and not going back to the Boots Angel branch.

I went for a regular eye test (I'm on contact lenses reward scheme), they changed my prescription to higher, then told me - Now we'll show you our glasses for you to choose.
First of all I didn't go for buying glasses - I went for a test and I thought how when I find glasses that I LIKE I will buy them. From any shop, not Boots exclusively. In this shop I felt pushed to choose and buy straight away.
So out of embarrassment I started to try on glasses but only ended liking (that's what I thought then, now I wouldn't chose them) one pair - after having tried around 50 pairs! I got checked really carefully by three members of staff, so I can tell they wanted to do their job properly and leave me satisfied. But when I got my glasses, the prescription was very very wrong. They tried to fix them in the shop while I was still there collecting them and told me to go home and try and wear them for an hour a day or so.
I did exactly as they told me but just 5 min with them was causing me headache, dizziness and lack of sense of balance. I insisted for longer - about an hour a day but it was just pointless.
Had to go back then after a week or two and got the same answer - keep trying, they WILL get better. Another staff member did a little correction which seemed in the right direction but still didn't change much on the overall.
Now approximately 3 or 4 months later, with me having tried a few times for an entire day to wear these glasses I end up with something useless for which I paid over 200 pounds.
Honestly, I feel like I was forced to buy something which I was not convinced I wanted, also frustrated I couldn't just say no, and also very unsatisfied with these glasses which seem to be useless at the moment.
That's why I'll change the store hoping that elsewhere I might have them sorted and that they don't look amazing I guess is something I'll just have to live with.
