The really special part of the nursery was how well they had established links within the community of Barkston. I loved that the children visited the Care home to sing carols at Christmas and also that they had sports day in the grounds of the care home so that the residents could watch. The nursery also had visits to a forest school provided so many new and exciting opportunities to explore. I also loved the community that the nursery itself created. They held coffee mornings where I could meet other parents, some that I have developed friendships with. This also gave me chance to chat to the practitioners and get to know them. The Nativity and Graduation was also amazing, so much planning and hard work must go into to them, but seeing my children taking part was so special.
My children left Barkston nursery confident, sociable and ready for school. They were so cared for there and still talk about nursery now there is nothing more I could have wanted in a nursery. It is fantastic!

The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make parents feel reassured. Due to covid parents are not allowed into the nursery and hand overs are carried out at the main door. The staff have a mothering feel to them so hand overs are not as hard as I was thinking they would be.
The first couple of weeks of attending Jax would cry when being dropped off. I would always recieve a telephone call within the hour reassuring me that Jax had calmed down. This was so nice as many parents can relate the hardest thing is leaving a child when they are sad.
Barkston Ash provide the children with a 'Busy Box' which comes home with Jax. It is always filled with artwork which he has done. I love this idea!
Both my husband and I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff. We honestly believe Jax has settled well with the move thanks to all the support he has received from everyone at Barkston Ash.
