Such a quiet pretty little village and then you come upon the church. Not sure how old the building itself is but the earliest readable date on the gravestones was in the early 1700s. The massive yew trees are the main attraction the oldest, now held together with a variety of iron belts and shackles is said to be art least 900 years old. Well worth the visit.

Three amazing ancient yew trees. The largest, to the north of the church, was nominated for Tree of the Year in 2020.

Dating in part from c1500, the church presides over the most attractive hamlet of Beltingham, to which we never tire of making a detour in the course of our rambles through Allendale and surrounding area.

A lovely old church with significant historical associations. Also worth visiting the overflow graveyard accessed by a narrow track opposite the church. One of the most peaceful places I've ever visited. And Beltingham is lovely.
