Just had a weekend here to test out our new tent and do some walking. Fantastic location to do just that. The information we received from the site prior to our visit was very good giving information about walks..food and site. However...although they said they stock staples in their small shop when i went to buy bread and eggs they sold neither!. This was very disappointing... The small narrow lane leading to the site is loose gravel/stone and soil and was kicking up at my car even though we drove in first gear. We didn't have a choice where we pitched up..and were given a plot number. We were told not to park on plot ( only to unload) as weather had been bad.. There was no hot water for 2 days..and the woodland walk was also out of bounds for some reason. The lights in the ladies shower/ toilet block went out twice in one day..once when i was in the shower..so not ideal! It rained on our last day and the muddy soily path through the campsite was like a skating rink with people slipping and sliding all over especially outside our tent where the road/path has an incline to the toilets. There was quite a bit of squealing and a few choice words as people skidded in the wet clay/soil. The drinking water tap a few minutes walk away was broken one morning .. It would be nice if the warden wouldn't stop outside customers tent though whilst talking on his mobile phone about 23.00 on Friday evening giving directions to someone on how to get here quote.. ( " talk to Alex at the house on the corner...") then proceeded to give directions to Alex' house whilst we were exhausted after a long journey trying to sleep). He could have phoned them back once in the office or at least out of earshot of other campers. Remember...its only a thin piece of material separating us from you!!!! Top tip..take your own hairdrier as the one sited in the toilets is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. It's advertised as ' luxury ' camping..but it needs much improvement before id call it luxury! However staff were very friendly.. Toilet facilities very clean And situation great for walks/ cycling.
