5 star for service but 3stars for upkeep of property. Badly needs refurb

Any pub that has me as its only customer for a Friday lunchtime is not doing things right. Unfortunately there isn't any proper beer, the handpumps are no more. The makeover has destroyed all the character it once had. That said the new decor looks a lot fresher. The menu has gone from wide-ranging and delicious Americana to pretty standard fare you could find anywhere. My fish and chips (well it was Friday) was well presented and largely tasty, sufficient for me to clear the plate. I hope this pub develops over the months and finds some hint of individuality. It's badly needed.

Was not impressed looks more like a 1960s truck stop. Mixed grill chicken was raw, cauliflower and brie soup was more brie than cauliflower it was so thick I could have laid bricks with it. We asked for 2 cappuccinos it came out lumpy, milk was off. No atmosphere in this place whatsoever unless you are local watching rugby or playing pool
