I visit Katherine House charity shop at least once a week. As a blogger, I hunt down unusual items and write about them. This shop is jam packed full of quirky, unusual items. If you are expecting a boutique style charity shop then I would recommend the Salvation Army as this charity shop is like a jumble sale. You have to rummage through items and everything is randomly placed but that is whats so fun and unique about this place. Its an old school charity shop where you have to hunt for treasures. Darren the manager is very charming and helpful and I hope he continues to keep this place bohemian as most charity shops are now becoming increasingly clinical and just like any other retail outlet.

My first time up at Banbury since last summer and I thought I would pop in to the shop. I was under the impression there had been a refit. Maybe there had been but you couldn't tell. What an awful chaotic mess the shop was. Boxes of games/jigsaws just piled up on top of each other - I actually knocked a pile over by accident. No way you could really look at what there was or attempt to pick one up to buy as the heap was just that - a massive heap. I could see loose jigsaw pieces all over the floor which had obviously fallen out of boxes. They were in an awkward place so trying to look was in everyone's way - or easy to knock over as I discovered. As for the books - reduced to a much smaller amount than before but shoved in a tiny space (behind the crazy heap of games and jigsaws). Again awkward to get at and see what there was. You had to climb over the piles of random stuff on the floor to get there. The books were just randomly heaped on top of each other, no logical order. Books in front of other books so you could only see half of them - if you moved a pile to see what was behind you were in danger of having 20 books fall on your head. The brick a brac just looked a mess. I couldn't even bring myself to rummage because some of it was physically dirty. I hate to have to write this review because this charity is such an important one and needs all the money it can get. This shop really let's itself and the charity down. Such a shame. (I didn't venture upstairs so can't comment on that)
