It was a joy to stay here for a couple of nights trip this week. This being our second visit to the hotel. The first time we stayed in the Lord Crewe room and this time we stayed in the Dunstanburgh room. Both rooms were fabulous and both times staying here we have received remarkable service. The staff are always on hand to help and nothing is ever too much trouble. The pub downstairs has a great atmosphere as is well worth visiting during your stay. The views alone from the hotel are a reason to visit, having the castle on the doorstep is a win in itself. The great bonus of staying here is that you are in touching distance of so many places, I had to be in Berwick for a meeting for my radio work and it was super quick and easy to commute and on returning the evening meal that awaiting us was simply fantastic. Breakfast was great also, cooked fresh and to perfection. Overall stunning rooms, great views, delicious food, outstanding service and a spot on location.

Terrible. Four of us had starters, mains, and a couple of desserts between us. Two of the starters were substandard..not at all representative of their descriptions in the menu or of what I would have expected from this establishment. Two main courses..venison.. were superb; the other two were another case entirely. They were both fish pie, which is one of the alleged specialities of the house. The fish element was almost completely missing, most of the fish mentioned in the menu as being present in the fish pie was absent, being padded out with a bowl full of white sauce and salty mashed potato. At 27 per dish, better was expected quite frankly, but this could have been saved by some sort of...Well anything from the staff. The waiting staff were told at the time, answer came there none; front of house staff were told at the time of payment, neither apology nor comment was forthcoming. As of yesterday, my cousin has been waiting two weeks for a response to her emailed complaint directly to The Lord Crewe. I assume that they respond to booking requests in a shorter time frame.
