Windy Edge Cottage, Bamburgh Northumberland Retreats

A beautiful cottage which is extremely well fitted out with everything you could want - it felt like home the minute we walked through the door. The owners (Tony and Jill) were most helpful from booking to arrival with every effort and thought made to make our stay relaxing and memorable. The cottage is in a wonderful location with views of Bamburgh Castle from the bedrooms. It is a short walk (200 yards) to the main street and Castle Green and not much further (400 yards) to a beautiful and expansive beach. There are some nice eateries and coffee shops in Bamburgh, notably The Potted Lobster (need to book well in advance to be sure of getting in) and Victoria Hotel for meals and Copper Kettle and Wydenall for coffee, cakes and light bites. Bamburgh is an excellent base for visiting surrounding places such as the Farne Islands (boats from Seahouses), Holy Island (worth stopping at The Barn at Beal for drink, lunch or dinner which is on road to Lindisfarne), Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnwick to name a few. Will definitely look to book this property again.
