Professional & friendly - Andrew gave me options - explained at my level of understanding- Im an NHS. Professional and having limited knowledge of pensions and safe investments it really helped getting specialist support. Louise is very helpful and always ready to support and explain Definitely recommend UPDATE 2023. Above Review given in 2021 At the time of writing I obviously thought I had safe investments. I was very very wrong. I was very clear I was not a risk taker. Understanding pensions for many of us is complex and stressful, so we have to be in a situation where we can trust. I was advised to close two pensions and open a new one, it definitely was not the best option for me. I would advise anyone considering this to look at the long term losses, transfer charges,% advice charges. Additional charges, Is it worth it? You will have to calculate yourself, specifically considering my age and being so near to retirement. Get a 5 year calculation of the costs. Get a second opinion. Make sure you aware of what you are giving up, go back to your provider and ask them for support before you do anything, because it may well be, they can offer a much fairer and financially viable solution. I would have been thousands of pounds better off if it had just taken my existing pensions at the time. ( this is not taking into consideration the many more thousands of pounds I am down due to the current market- when I thought my money was safe- which means taking my pension- when I need it now is not an option) The biggest part of knowledge I take from this is:- make sure you get a written quote up front- I have asked how the charges for time are calculated, several times, but Ive yet to obtain an answer- there is zero transparency or published information, there was a large fluctuation on my verbal quote in comparison to my bill. If like me you have a few small pensions and little understanding of the retirement/tax rules, documents and booklets, when making any changes you will STILL get lots of new documents/booklets/graphs/ charts and jargon-and more you may not understand. Before you agree I would definitely make sure you ask someone that understands to help you go over the new paperwork. You have to read many many pages and lots of small print. There is a verbal concentration on explaining the positives, not the downfalls, make sure your aware initial charges are repeated costs if you add funds. It might not be explained to you. Its not been a good experience for me and if I could go back to early 2021 I would. All of the transactions were definitely not in my best interest. I had an existing ISA, but was told they could do better. Absolutely zero gain in the first and second year, just deficiencies. Im having to seek professionals to support and advise me of a resolve Being asked to sign documents at meetings- when there are time restraints - when those documents are complex, perhaps take them home and get a second opinion.

Being very inexperienced in financial matters I was apprehensive about dealing with the transfer of my works pension to a private pension. I needn't have worried. Dominic at Jamieson Christie guided me through the process step by step, explaining everything in terms I could understand, and at no time made me feel awkward about asking questions. Oh so many questions! Since the transfer I have had regular contact with Dominic and other members of the Jamieson Christie team, and can honestly say they are accommodating and professional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for financial advice. David Harper.

Id done quite a bit of research using the FSA & GOV.UK advice tools when looking for a financial advisor to work with, I decided to make an initial inquiry with Jamieson Christie and was then contacted by Dominic who arranged a telephone call with me to explain in more detail how the process would work. After our first meeting there was lots of information to take away and digest before arranging a formal review which would go into a lot more detail about my financial situation and hopes and aspirations for the future (as you would expect in financial planning) Dominic took time at each stage to check my understanding and ensure that the advice he gave me was based on my personal circumstances & was relevant to my needs & aspirations. I never felt any pressure at any stage, the process was clear and logical, and I was happy to proceed with the recommendations. The whole team at Jamieson Christie were warm and friendly during my 4 visits to their offices and Id be happy to recommend them to anyone looking for investment / financial planning advice.
