This Old Churchyard is about 0.5km north of the current St Peters Church and is the site of at least three previous churches. The third church was opened in 1862 but did not last long; being struck by lightning in 1874 and largely destroyed by fire. Its remains were converted for use as a mortuary chapel but this too was finally demolished in 1954. There are three fenced tombs in this old churchyard, known as the Forsyth, Peacock and Prodgers tombs. On the day of our visit, in early April 2021, less grand memorials were immersed in a sea of daffodils. A nice place to stop and explore, if passing.
