I am writing this review on behalf of the Walters family. We lost our dear Liz Walters yesterday afternoon. She was a much loved mother for Karen, her eldest daughter, and a loved and cherished sister-in-law to Brian Walters. Though not a blood relation to myself, she felt like an adopted mum to me, and I was privileged to know her for a tragically short 4 month period. Liz was a resident of Lewin House for many years, around 13 in total, during which she received excellent care from staff, many of whom knew her as a personal friend and had formed strong bonds over many years of caring for her. The staff at Lewin House went out of their way to make Liz comfortable in her final weeks, and accommodated the immediate family at all times of day to visit Liz in her final days. Considering I was not a blood relative, they were equally compassionate about my connection to Liz, and understood the depth of the friendship I had developed with her. I will always be indebted to them for their professionalism, their non-judgmental perspective, and their tolerance of the complexities families can yield. Liz passed away peacefully with her loving family present, and within a few hours Joseph (assistant manager) had gone to exceptional lengths to ensure that her room could be cleared efficiently and that the labour in arrangements involved post-death had been absorbed by his colleagues, allowing the family to grieve and focus on the immediate priorities. I can't thank them enough for all they did and I warmly recommend them. Daniel Mullin
