Kennet Avenue or West Kennet Avenue is a prehistoric site in the English county of Wiltshire. It was an avenue of two parallel lines of stones 25m wide and 2.5 km in length, which ran between the Neolithic sites of Avebury and The Sanctuary. The avenue is within the Avebury section of the Stonehenge and Avebury WORLD HERITAGE SITE. It is in the freehold ownership of the National Trust, and a scheduled monument in English Heritage guardianship. It is managed by the National Trust on behalf of English Heritage, and the two organisations share the cost of managing and maintaining the property. Definitely worth a visit.

There is parking next to the Avenue on the B4003 but I parked at Silbury Hill nearby and walked from there to Avebury and back to the Avenue. In isolation they are impressive but viewed as part of the neolithic landscape including Avebury itself and Silbury Hill they are quite an amazing feat. It's a shame that religious bigots destroyed a large number of stones but what is left is still worth seeing. I'd recommend the full walk too but if not you can view the avenue with a 5 minute photo stop.

(Translated by Google) West Kennett Avenue and Beckhamton Avenue run from the Henge to the southeast and west, both with standing stones in pairs. (Original)
