Stopped off in Umberleigh from the Exeter-Barnstaple train line. Made the short walk over to the Rising Sun for a tasty paella. Very friendly welcome and nice locals. Oldy world pub and lots of cosy nooks and crannies. Very dog friendly and treats on the bar. Will definitely call in again one day. Food & drinks: Good value menu of pub classics

We stayed for two nights over a weekend. We stayed in the family room. The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom was amazing. We had dinner on arrival which was really good value for money and delicious. We had a cooked breakfast both mornings. My son is a fussy eater, on the first morning he had bacon and toast. We asked for hash browns on the side but we were informed they didnt do hash browns with the breakfast ( which was fine ) On the Sunday we went down for breakfast and the owner had bought hash browns especially for my sons breakfast. Such a lovely sweet thing to do. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend
