    St. Kentigern's Church is the place of Kathleen Ferrier's (22 April 1912 8 October 1953, a renowned English contralto) first professional singing engagement in 1937. Kathleen made her first performance as a professional vocalist here in 1937. It was the celebration of the Harvest Festival in this village church. They paid her 1 guinea. She died young, aged 41 of breast cancer in 1953.
