        Friendly place and well appointed room and en suite with bath. Unfortunate that they are not doing cooked breakfast. They do have a shop for DIY breakfasts though with facilities in the room . Only disappointment was the mattress. Very, very soft/old .

        Not just for the tourists! We live just a mile up the road and yet this is our favourite place to stop for a coffee or lunch whilst out walking the dogs. In the last couple of years Dan and Justin have turned the shop and tearooms into an oasis of great hospitality - whether you need to just pop in to by your essential food ingredients, pick up a hot drink to take away or stop longer and enjoy one of their amazing lunches - can highly recommend the Cumbrian rarebit! If you've been for a walk along the River Lowther or hiked around Haweswater, this is definitely the place to stop and enjoy their home-made cakes and jams.
