Not dog friendly, bizarre for a garden centre, plenty of other options in the area

Beautiful garden centre that provides more inspiration than most! Differently themed areas with plenty of mature planting and a great selection of plants and trees, including fruit trees, like Medlar , that are hard to find! Gorgeous restaurant and a beautiful shop complete the picture (hide your credit card from yourself!). This is the kind of garden centre that reduces stress and revives your appreciation of beautiful horticulture and great interior design. Parking available across the road.

This is by far the most beautiful nursery I have ever visited. It's hard to believe that the hard landscaping hasn't been there for hundreds of years. And so well stocked, with exotic stuff as well as the more everyday, but all in beautiful condition. I shall add it to places I must visit every time I am in the Lakes. Just a stunning treat! Thank you and congratulations.

I don't usually write reviews but feel that on this occasion I should do. The nursery is still really well stocked and a reason to return to Larch Cottage, but the cafe was a slightly different experience. Having been told where our reserved table was, we sat for a good 5 minutes before getting menus - from an adjacent table's customers. Soon after one of the staff took our orders for a fruit juice, coffee and two pizzas. The drinks came promptly, albeit the Americano without milk which had to be asked for. Soon after both pizzas arrived, on luke warm plates. One was badly burnt underneath and the other barely warm. They were sent back and replaced. Having finished, we sat for some time but our plates weren't collected and the choice of puddings never made known. That sums up the experience really. The staff were always very polite but just not seen too often. With costs of 14+ for the pizzas and 3+ for the coffee, things should have been better.
