I went to the cafe on a recce a week before I wanted to have a family brunch there. I booked a table for the following Sunday. There was no problem, I was told, and booked for 6 at midday. We all went to the cemetery on Mothers Day the next week, and then arrived, only to be told, in a packed cafe that the boss had cancelled our table but did not let us know. Apparently we could have a free drink as a compensation. We were furious. It took us a great deal of time and effort to find another venue that could take us on this special day. I will never recommend them, nor will I ever go back. Thank you for your reply. I was not to know the member of staff was new. As you could not contact me, perhaps that was the time to honour the commitment. Those other people who tried to book were given the correct information and so had time to make other arrangements.

Visited today and I couldn't let the day pass without writing a recommendation. Absolutely 5+ stars for this hidden gem! The food is fantastic and really plentiful! The staff are delightful, brilliant, welcoming and accepting. Mum is an older lady living with dementia and is often repetitive with limited vocabulary and sometimes people can be dismissive but boy! we were welcomed, she was appreciated by the staff and we all enjoyed each other's company. We were treated like family. On to the food which was incredibly well cooked, piping hot and lovely big portions. We even got a meal deal and took pudding home to enjoy later. We were asked would we come back...Absolutely! We will visit time and time again for the community, company, food and lovely experience! A thousand thank yous! x

First rate cafe, with very reasonable prices for excellent food. The service was very friendly and entertaining and all in all the experience was very, very good. I would certainly recommend the Askham Grange Gerden Centre, cafe and coffee bar to anyone and everyone. Its definitely worth a drive out to give it a try.
