We went for sunday lunch and the people couldn't have been nicer. They only took over the place 6 weeks ago, so it's amazing that they have got things together so quickly but unfortunately we went on the basis of sunday lunch reviews from before and lunch was disappointing for me. My friend being vegetarian ordered the nut roast and that was actually incredibly delicious, as was the cheesy leek dish accompanying the food. However, for me the highlights of a roast sunday lunch are the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and the meat. I couldn't even eat the roast potatoes - they should be crispy outside and soft inside but these were flabby; not at all crispy and yet quite burnt at the edges. The Yorkshire pud was flabby as well. Maybe because everything was swamped in a gravy that had an overwhelming herby taste - it would have been better to serve the gravy apart. I had to scrape it off my plate into the empty veg dish. Although I ordered my beef rare, it came well cooked with not a hint of red. It was changed for me and was a little more pink but not really what I'd call rare. It was ok but not really enjoyable for me. I really hope the food improves as the place is great and the people are very nice.
