Our mother was admitted to Forest Court from Southampton General Hospital on 11th September. We appreciate that this is a difficult and testing time due to Covid 19but we are appalled by the absolutely abysmal communication from this care home. We have not been able to visit our mother at all and dont really know how she is as we have been given totally minimal information when we have been able to get through to the staff on the phone. We have been given four different phone numbers all of which continually have an automated message stating that the line is busy. We have not been able to speak to our mother which is upsetting for us and must be devastating for her to be in a care home on her own possibly thinking that we are not bothering or dont care about her. I hope the care staff are not as dismissive with her as they are with us on the odd occasion that we have managed to speak to someone. We had NO contact from mums Social Worker until my brother chased this up. We were promised that after the review meeting for our mother we would be informed what the plan for her future was. Needless to say we have heard absolutely NOTHING therefore we are completely in the dark regarding our mothers wellbeing and future. If it were possible to rate the communication for Forest Court below one star I would definitely do so. We are unable to assess the care as we are not allowed on the premises and we are not able to contact anyone.

If you're thinking of sending a loved one or family member here, be warned. Leaving a patient in a soiled bed, is, according to HCC/Forest Court adequate care. Please also make sure any items, no matter how small, are labelled. My Mum had a gold chain stolen and numerous items missing on discharge. The response to my complaint was that they were never with her in the first place. I am in the process of taking the matter further. Am happy to provide further information if needed.

Mum stayed for about a week as a stepping stone between hospital and care home, thank goodness she didnt stay at Forest court!!!communication was virtually 0, sometimes we had to give up trying to call after 30 times, handover to her new home was incorrect, mum hates nighttime, FC said she was content and quiet..twice they had to pick her up off of the floor and these were the times we were told of!!! they didnt pass this on. Would not recommend this place at all, although the Nursing staff were kind, but hard to understand at times.

My mother recently spent some time in Forest Court, after under going surgery unexpectedly and the care she received was outstanding, everyone was so kind to her and she received the best of care from all the different departments, at the home. We as a family can't thank them enough, for everything they did for Mum and making her stay so comfortable and enjoyable. Mum has also asked me to pass on her thanks, she can't thank you enough for all that you did for her, Kind Regards Dorothy and Marianne
