EDIT: in the reply they say 9 months to issuing of final invoice. It was 11 months until the work was actually completed. The claim that the design was not received until October is incorrect. I re-sent exactly the same information in October that I had sent to them in May.
There was an outstanding serious quality issue - a wobbly handrail - which they argued was "a decent job" and "fit for purpose" because it passed building regulations. (Bear in mind that they are supposed to be a "premium option" (the price is certainly commensurate), not lowest common denominator.)
I withheld final payment until the matter was resolved. They did all the usual stuff - kept denying any issue, threatening legal action.
It turned out (= I discovered) that there was a screw missing at the bottom of the staircase, replacement of which fixed the entire issue.
It goes without saying that I would neither recommend them or ever use them again.
