Whilst St. Giles Bookshop is technically a charity shop, it is presented more like a formal book shop; its offerings are consistently high in quality and well-curated. Prices are generally reasonable and widely vary depending on the rarity of the product: the Doc Martin 2006 Christmas Special DVD cost 50p (as do most CDs and DVDs), whereas a book on teacup collecting cost 90... Most things are less that 5. The shop is also known for its excellent range of Ordnance Survey maps (recently promoted to a prime-position display!), all 2.50 each and mostly date from between 1974 and 2005. I have visited many times and always see something different each time, both in the cartography department and elsewhere.

I love your shop. Such a wide range of classic books. I've loved comming in every month or so. Spending a few pounds and leaving with an adventure. A new book. A story. A life. A history. You seem to have a wider range then the local library. Thank you St Giles. Jeremy

Great for children's books, used to take kids into town for a milkshake and visit to st Giles for a new book. The town supports this shop very well. Prices more than acceptable.

I was astonished to see that someone had given this charity bookshop only two stars, stating that it is expensive. This is not a commercial enterprise, but a charity shop generating much needed funds for a very deserving hospice. I can say from personal knowledge, as an Ashby resident, that this bookshop is very highly regarded in the area and is an asset to the town. It is extremely well run and well presented. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful. The books on sale are all clean and undamaged, unlike books sold at many charity shops. I have not seen a better charity bookshop and have heard many people say the same. Two stars is uncharitable. It deserves five.
