Denis Perry Antiques & Interiors

We were in Ashburton this past week and are both interested in antiques. We were surprised to arrive at this shop and not even be allowed inside. I was told "there isn't room" and the door was then closed on us. We visited several other antiques shops in the town and felt very welcome in those.

The basil fawlty of ashburton - he did what he does to everyone shut the door in our faces and told us to come back later because he had one other person in the shop - we returned and he asked if we were looking for anything I said we will know it when we see it and he said yeah right Ive seen you walking around the shops and youve not bought anything I said ok we will leave now as you are being so rude and he said its always the women that get offended, the man is awful I dont know why he bothers to open up he obviously just enjoys being rude as you can see from all the other reviews (the good ones are probably from his mates - if he has any - there are a couple of other old codger antique men in the town Im guessing they all stick together in their curmudgeonly way making very little money

Owner is a complete @rsehole. A rude tw@t who deserves a slap. Shame because every other shop owner in town made you feel welcome. Gives Ashburton a bad name.

Highly recommend - the most interesting antiques shop Ive been into for years. Dennis is an old school dealer who only deals in proper antiques and his prices are not unreasonable for anything from a human skull to 18th century Delft. He doesnt approve of time wasters so can be a bit gruff but really has a great sense of humour!
