Cosmopolitan interiors

I first met Richard from Cosmopolitan Upholstery at the Ideal Home exhibition. I had been looking for someone to do a complete restoration of a Furnwood suite that was 25 years old for over 2 years. My requirements were a complete restoration including fabric, cushion materials, springs and padding to be as good if not better than the original. This required a considerable degree of knowledge of traditional techniques. Most people I had previously spoken to about this either had no idea at all about the quality of the suite I had or tried to pursuade me to buy a new one. This would have been cheaper but that is not what I wanted. Richard was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable and not put off when I told him that I was probably going to be the most difficult customer he had ever met. The job had to be perfect. Richard does all of the work himself including picking up and delivery. He sent me photographs during the job and insisted that I visited a couple of times to ensure the work was in line with my expectations. It was soon clear that he was working to a very high standard. The end result is fantastic. The quality of my suite is better than the original by a wide margin and quite frankly I do not know of any modern day suite from any manufacturer which is of a higher standard. I was embarrassed to call Richard a few days after delivery to ask whether he could adapt some of the side cushions to a 100% down fill as I felt that I needed something softer to put my head on. He picked up the cushions, re-filled them and then returned them to me without any further charge. I really was sorry to ask him to do this as his workshop is 100 miles from where I live but he simply said that was what a bespoke service is and he was happy to do anything to get things right. Richard is a true craftsman and also a very nice person to deal with. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
