What a beautiful place. My friend and I both have mobility issues and the staff member on the entrance this afternoon was so helpful. If it hadn't been for him we would have never got as far as the beautiful small beach, at shipstal, stunning at high tide. The cafe was great too, delicious cake. Beautiful heathland and lots of easy paths.

Turned up here to walk and swim (Wild Swimming Walks in Dorset) and received a less-than-warm welcome from an officious woman volunteer who lectured me on the stupidity of swimming here (deep mud, shallow water, damage to wildlife) with her male counterpart telling my husband about the troublesome pigs there. We were then followed and observed by some bloke with a walkie-talkie, presumably to ensure I did not swim. On reaching said swim-spot, we greeted and scratched the friendly pigs running through and churning up the important habitats, saw no mud and suffice to say, will not be joining the RSPB anytime soon. All they suceeded in doing was spoiling my morning and alienating me.
