InstaVolt Charging Station

A well positioned charge point, just off the A42. A good place for doing a top up on a trip from the Northeast to Southwest or vice versa, also in car park of a McDonald's so coffee and more available.

I stopped here twice for a trip up north. Great location as it's just off of the motorway, and it breaks the journey up nicely. I didn't need to wait at any point, and there's a McDonald's for a bit to eat. I would say that the parking is very tight, but the quick charge was worth it.

Good on McDonald's for putting in all these chargers. I had trouble with contactless but it accepted when I inserted card and used PIN. Both chargers were free when we turned up just before lunch.

This was an awful experience. The two parking slots for the two chargers are side on. There is no room on the passenger side to get out if a car is parked next to you, which happened to us. I had to bring the car forward for my wife to get out to allow me sufficient room to park and get out of my side. I have subsequently seen on Zap Map that this is a common complaint about the lack of space. Wish I had seen it earlier. IT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FRIENDLY AT ALL. It took 5 attempts with a credit card for me to eventually get the charger to work using the Instavolt App. Each time you use the credit card you authorise a 30 charge against your card. So presumably I have 150 against my card which I am hoping will be removed. Although I was successful, eventually, in getting the charger to work, I have arrived home with two charge invoices, one for 11.72 on my credit card (which didn't work) and one for 12.72 using the App. I think I will give the credit card charge a day to settle before I ring Instavolt up if this has not been removed from my card. The charger itself is quick and the charging rate was 75kW throughout so after the first 25 inutes faffing around I was only there for another 20 mins before I was on my way. Think I will avoid this plce like the plague in future.
