        Never done it before, but I seemed to have got my dates mixed up and arrived 24hrs early for an overnight stay at another establishment in Appleby! After a bit of phoning around, we were advised to try Ann (proprietor) at Bongate House as by this time, it was 17:00 hrs and we had been busy making a day of it in Appleby, setting off from home at 09:00 hrs that day! Explained to Ann and although she was pretty full and hadn't planned on letting out a particular room she had, she 'took us in'. Thank goodness she did. What a gem of a place and an absolute gem of a woman! So kind, thoughtful and friendly. Her home is beautiful, lovely and clean and the bed was so comfortable too. Really important to me, having spinal issues! Ann's food is delicious and plentiful. First time in Appleby (which is just delightful) and we certainly hope to be back. Wouldn't stay anywhere else other than here! Thank you Ann. And best wishes going forward. Lynn & Mick xx

        Excellent accommodation with lots of space tv and on suite. Meals are great. Also my cousin is vegan and that wasnt a problem. Anne gave us a lift from the edge of dufton to Bongate house and back on to the Pennine way track! Picked up two people walking with us and dropped them at their accommodation in Appleby as well. This is above and beyond.!!!!!
