My second time here, I first went when it was newly opened and remembered having a decent full English so back I went for lunch. Unfortunately this time wasn't a great experience, mainly because the service was quite frankly appalling - it took us over an hour to go from a main each to one dessert, and it wasn't even that busy - the two waiting staff would almost go out of their way to ignore you when we asked them where the food was - not sure if they were having kitchen issues, but a bit of communication goes a long way. When the food did come it was ok, nothing overly interesting - the cod lasagne was just a hot pocket filled with fishy bechamel and the bavette steak was cold to touch as it was probably sitting around waiting for an absent waiter to appear. They also had no extra sauces for the steak (apart from 'maybe' having some English mustard). Dessert was a coffee cake, described as sort of like a tiramisu but the only thing it had in common with that was a vague coffee flavour and the fact it was sweet. All rather a letdown for 50. I won't go back a third time.

So booked Saturday morning to go Saturday evening, unfortunately due to illness we were unable to go, so telephoned to cancel and nobody picked up so I left a message. I then got a phone call to ask where we were as they expected us at 6pm. I explained the situation and was told that because I hadnt given 24 hours notice my card would be charged 20. I tried to argue the point but he wasnt listening! It is our policy and I am unable to alter anything! Maybe he could explain to me how I could give 24 hours notice when the booking had only been made around 8 hours ago. Really disappointed at not being able to go but also being charged 20 for the privilege of not being able to go.

Amazing restaurant. great atmosphere and delicious dishes. Wine choices are as well excellent.
