Compston House B&B

Great guesthouse and stay! Ambleside is a wonderful jumping off point for all stops in the Lake District and has plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Meghan and John were great hosts and their dog, Mia, gets 10 stars for being a good girl. Breakfast was a highlight and was delicious with plenty of options. Highly recommend.

Family run BnB brilliant hosts really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent so much choice. Really tasty and locally sourced. Central location to Ambleside and really close to bus halt for further excursions around the lakes. Recommend the 599 top deck on a good day. A parking permit is allocated to you for free parking nearby and to a few other car parks in the lakes. Highly recommended thanks Meg and John

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this B&B, and we were incredibly comfortable during the entire length of our stay. The property is quaint and charming, but not bereft of modern amenities. Our room was clean and cozy, and we slept like logs in the very comfortable bed. The breakfast was fantastic, and had lots of variety on the menu. And location-wise, we were right in the middle of everything, seemingly steps away from restaurants and shops and hiking trails. John and Meg were very friendly and accommodating of any requests we had, and Mia was always there each morning to greet us on our way down for breakfast. What more could we ask for?

Stayed here in winter, most B&B closed for winter. Friendly staff, great breakfast, good room. Don't forget a bit of sausage for the dog ;) I'm seeing a review from "wilma vw" which appears factually incorrect from my experience, there is WiFi, it was fast, password in room and there's breakfast, so I think confused with some other place?
