We first ate here a couple of years ago while staying in Amble. This time we were a bit further up the coast and thought we would call in for breakfast before the long drive home in the hope that is was as good as last time and we were not disappointed. Warm friendly service, lovely cooked breakfast and great coffee. Well worth a visit if you in the area. Highly recommend.

Called in with our grown-up grandson on a breezy spring weekday morning for brunch. Cheery welcome to a pleasant eating area inside. The seats filled up over the following 20 minutes with a steady stream of elderly locals (several with their dogs) calling in for a pot of tea or a coffee. So the place developed a quiet sociable hum of chatter. All in all, a pleasant relaxed ambience, but our grown-up grandson must have been the only adult not collecting a pension. Pleasant coffee, although there is no filter coffee option. We sampled 3 of the 'Radcliffe' offerings; Blennie, Royale, and Florentine (with black pudding on the side). Good sized portions and tastey components served quickly and without fuss. So, why not the full 5*, you ask? The purists amongst us replies.. poached eggs, just slightly overcooked, (yokes hard) bloomer slice, I'd have preferred a nice artisan granary. We'll be calling in again as our visit to @AllianceFishMongers was a major success, maybe Radcliffe's could be persuaded to use Alliances hot smoked salmon steaks..now that would raise any breakfast option to 5 (gold) * and I'll be specific about my eggs, and request a granary chunk rather than the bloomer. Oh yes, it goes without saying that whilst not cheap, prices were very reasonable.
