I would like to describe ''Rock Cottage" as an oxymoron - Contradictory terms being mentioned together. Similarly this house can be an oxymoron of sorts - Simple design but complex layways, Rustic design but sophisticated interiors, rugged foundation but smooth flooring, old-fashioned walls but elegant bedrooms, ancient cottage but modernized appliances. We instantly fell in love with the house, the moment we stepped in. We were greeted by beautiful master bedroom and a spacious living room, kitchen in the ground floor and a beautifully laid dining table made of very old but strong wood. The bedrooms upstairs were beautiful in their own regard.Situated just 10 mins away from Alton towers, this place is strategically located and is supplemented with a Londis shop for any needs, which is just 2 min walk away. The only bad thing if I want to say about this house is that, 2 days are not enough to fully enjoy the stay

What a little gem. The cottage is so quaint, warm and cosy. I feel like I have stayed in part of Altons history. Really comfy beds, a quiet location , so a great night's sleep. Easy to walk to the local pubs, where you can find some great food. A fantastic location for walkers, with spectacular scenery. Alton towers is close by if you are a thrill seeker! I'll definately pop back for another mini break.

Could be a lot better for 200 per night, you're paying for the location being close to Alton Towers. The pros are its cosy , has two toilets, is warm and decent enough to lay your head at night. However, there is an annoying grinding noise that kicks in randomly which can be heard from the bedrooms and disturbed us both nights. The layout is a bit odd with one of the rooms having a rocking chair and table but no other chairs . There is no TV which makes absolutely no sense to us. Luckily we'd brought laptops and the broadband was decent otherwise it would have been a bit quiet. Also, the plug sockets are all in mostly inaccessible or odd places - the host could easily remedy this with some extension sockets so u don't have to scramble behind every couch for power. Kitchen is adequate and they provided coffee , tea, sugar and some long life milk but we didn't use their milk. The location is good for alton towers being a 10 min drive. There is also a couple of pubs 5 min walk away if that. One was closed but still served food which could be eaten at covered tables outside or taken into the sister pub which is cosy and characterful.
