I have visited many times and have had some great days as well as a few mixed experiences over the years. Potentially it is one of the finest narrow gauge heritage railways in the country with its amazing scenery with great historic infrastructure, excellent engineering department and willing volunteers. They need to update their website though which isn't as contemporary as other heritage railways. The 'News' section on the home page has not been updated in four years. Surely there must have been something interesting to report in that time as not everyone has access to their Facebook page? The South Tynedale railway is well worth the long journey to visit though and is the flagship attraction in Alston.
